Before connecting a handle, inspect the hose nipples and nuts for damage and ensure that the gas-specific threads match. Do not use PTFE tape or sealing compounds on oxygen threads unless they are specified for oxygen service. Test every new assembly for leaks using soap-based leak detection, never an open flame.
Handle choice is also about hose size. Common hose bores of 6.3 mm and 8 mm suit light and medium cutting, while heavy jobs may need larger bore hoses to keep flow stable over long runs. Check that the handle nipples match the hose diameter, and fit proper crimped or clamped ferrules so that the hose cannot slip off under pressure or during rough handling.
