📦 Fitting and Handling Notes
Follow the same routine every time: inspect, connect, release the adjuster, open the cylinder valve slowly, set the pressure, then test for leaks. After use close the valve, vent the line and release the adjuster.
The core principle is the same for all designs: a spring-loaded diaphragm balances the outlet pressure against the adjuster setting, and a seat opens or closes to let more or less gas through. In a single stage design this happens once; in a double stage design it happens twice. Choosing between them, and between brass and stainless bodies, depends on duty, environment and budget. Typical cylinders hold oxygen at around 200 bar, and typical working pressures for cutting are a few bar, so the gauges must be correctly ranged for safe and readable operation.
Oxygen is not flammable by itself, but it makes materials burn far more vigorously, and oil or grease in contact with high-pressure oxygen can ignite. That is why cleaning is central to every regulator we supply and why we recommend that only trained people fit, adjust and service them. Keep spare washers, check threads regularly and retire any regulator with a creeping outlet gauge, a cracked lens or a damaged nut.
