Install arrestors in the direction of the engraved arrow and test them according to the maker's schedule. Gas is carried under ADR / UN rules and relevant EN/ISO standards.
Fitting and maintenance: a flame arrestor only protects the line while its element is clean and its valve seats freely. Fit it hand-tight plus a small spanner turn, avoid thread sealants on gas connections, and check for leaks with approved leak-detection fluid. Test the non-return valve at regular intervals by applying low reverse pressure and confirming that no gas passes. Arrestors that have operated, show soot inside the connection or have been dropped should be withdrawn from service. Keep a record of fitting dates for each device, and replace them on the interval recommended by the manufacturer even if no incident has occurred.
