Never fit an oxygen arrestor on a fuel line or the reverse. Gas cylinders follow ADR / UN rules and relevant EN/ISO standards.
Matching arrestor to gas: oxygen and fuel gas arrestors are not interchangeable. Oxygen units use materials and lubricants chosen to resist ignition, while fuel units use a flame-quenching element. Fuel gas connections use a left-hand thread and oxygen connections a right-hand thread, which helps prevent accidental swaps. Always read the marking before fitting, confirm the maximum working pressure, and keep to the flow direction shown by the arrow. If you use more than one fuel, such as acetylene on one bench and propane on another, label each bench clearly and stock suitable spares for both so that nobody substitutes the wrong device in a hurry. Keep a spare arrestor of each type in the tool store, together with a small supply of sealing washers, so that a worn unit can be exchanged within minutes rather than left in service.
