Adjustable devices should still be installed upstream of the torch and checked for leaks with an approved leak detection fluid after every connection. Avoid forcing the knob beyond its stops and do not use the valve as the main shut-off, as the cylinder valve remains the primary isolation point. Close the knob gently when work ends to protect the seat from wear.
The adjustable valve is usually a fine needle design, which gives a long travel for a small change in flow. That makes it ideal for oxygen flows of only a few litres per minute, as used for small torches. For higher flows a wider bore is better, so please tell us your typical consumption. The body is designed to be gripped easily even with gloves, and the thread seat is replaceable, so a worn valve can be refreshed rather than discarded. Pair it with a regulator that holds a steady outlet pressure, since flow control works best on a stable supply.
