When a cylinder is filled, the gas warms and the pressure falls as it cools, so correct filling requires temperature allowance. REAL GAZ calculates the target pressure at a 15 °C reference temperature and checks the result after cooling. Users should also remember that CO is a permanent gas, so pressure falls in direct proportion to the gas used. This makes a pressure gauge a reasonable indicator of cylinder content, and we recommend changing cylinders before they are completely empty. Cylinders must never be heated to raise delivery pressure, because the relief devices and wall strength are designed for normal ambient temperatures only.
