Industrial CO Gas β dependable carbon monoxide for process plants
Industrial CO gas from REAL GAZ is a flammable, toxic and highly reactive gas used as a chemical building block and a reducing agent in demanding production environments. Every cylinder is filled, analysed and documented before it leaves our filling station.
Typical industrial grades cover 99.5% to 99.97% carbon monoxide, with controlled limits on carbon dioxide, moisture, oxygen and hydrocarbons so that downstream catalysts and furnaces behave predictably.

REAL GAZ supplies this product according to ISO 6142, ISO 17025 and related standards, suitable for industrial process and laboratory use, with cylinder valves and fittings matched to carbon monoxide service.
Carbon monoxide burns with a blue flame and has a wide flammable range in air, roughly 12.5% to 74% by volume, so piping must be leak-tight and kept away from ignition sources. REAL GAZ recommends purging all lines with nitrogen before and after cylinder changes. Industrial users commonly select cylinders of 40 or 50 litres, or bundles for continuous demand, and we help calculate how many cubic metres each pack delivers at the filled pressure. Small leaks are best found with approved detection fluid rather than a flame or an unprotected sensor.
π Where Industrial CO Is Used
- βοΈ Synthesis gas production β carbon monoxide is combined with hydrogen to feed methanol, oxo-alcohol and acetic acid routes in chemical plants;
- π¬ Metal heat treatment β controlled carbon-bearing atmospheres in furnaces help manage carburising and reduction steps on steel components;
- π₯ Nickel and metal carbonyl processes β CO reacts with certain metals to form volatile carbonyls that are used for refining and for fine powder production;
- π Pilot plants and catalyst trials β stable CO feed supports bench-scale reactors that evaluate FischerβTropsch and water-gas-shift catalysts.
π‘ Why Choose REAL GAZ
- β Consistent composition β each batch is analysed against the agreed specification, so process yields do not drift between deliveries;
- π§ͺ Low contaminant levels β tight limits on moisture and carbon dioxide protect sensitive catalysts and reduce corrosion in lines;
- π― Flexible pack sizes β single cylinders, bundles and packs are available to match consumption from pilot rigs to continuous lines;
- π Responsible handling support β our team advises on regulators, valve outlets, purging and gas detection before the first cylinder is connected;
- π Certificate of Analysis (CoA) β issued with every order, listing purity and the principal impurities measured on your batch.
π¬ Quality Control & Safety
- multi-stage purification of the incoming gas;
- gravimetric checks on fill weight and pressure;
- moisture & impurity analysis by gas chromatography;
- leak testing of valves and pressure integrity checks.
Cylinders comply with ADR / UN transport rules and relevant EN/ISO standards. Carbon monoxide is odourless, so fixed CO detectors, good ventilation and trained personnel are essential wherever it is used.
