A typical X11 outfit includes a mixing torch body, interchangeable welding nozzles, a cutting attachment for mild steel, an oxygen regulator, an acetylene regulator, red and blue hoses with crimped connectors, and a spanner and nozzle cleaner set. Working pressures are set at the regulators and checked on the gauges before every lighting sequence, which keeps the flame stable and the consumption of gas predictable.
Before first use, secure cylinders upright with a chain or trolley, open each valve slowly, and test every connection with leak detection fluid. Keep oil and grease away from all oxygen fittings, and close both cylinder valves at the end of each shift.
Cylinder sizes for the kit range from small portable bottles of about 2 litres water capacity, suited to site call-outs, to 10 and 40 litre cylinders for fixed benches. We advise customers on how long each size will last at a given tip size, so that spare cylinders are ordered before the day's work is interrupted.
