Welding Gas Argon CO₂ — shielding gas for steady arcs and clean welds
Welding Gas Argon CO₂ is the standard shielding mixture for MAG welding of carbon and low-alloy steels, combining the stable arc of argon with the deeper penetration that carbon dioxide provides.
Common ratios such as 82/18, 90/10 and 92/8 argon to CO₂ are held in stock, and other ratios can be blended on request.
Mixtures are specified according to EN ISO 14175 (classification groups M20 and M21) and are suitable for structural and fabrication welding.
The right ratio depends on the job. Mixtures with about 8% CO₂ are chosen for thin sheet and for spray-arc work with low spatter, 10% to 15% suits general fabrication of mild steel, and 18% to 20% is popular for flux-cored wires and heavier plate where penetration is the priority. Pure CO₂ gives the deepest penetration but a harsher arc, which is why many shops move to an argon mixture once finish and cleaning time are considered. Flow rate typically sits between 12 and 18 litres per minute for MAG welding, increased in draughty conditions and reduced for fine wires.
Cylinders should be chained upright, regulators checked regularly, and hoses replaced when they harden or crack. Cold storage can lower the cylinder pressure reading without any gas being lost, so allow cylinders to warm to workshop temperature before judging how much gas remains.

🏭 Where Argon-CO₂ Welding Gas Are Used
  • 🏗️ Structural steelwork — beams, frames and plate girders welded in thick sections where fusion and bead profile must be consistent;
  • 🚗 Automotive components — chassis parts, exhaust systems and brackets welded by robots that depend on a steady, spatter-light arc;
  • 🚢 Shipyards and pressure vessels — fabrication of tanks and hulls where weld penetration and repeatability are checked by inspection;
  • 🔧 Maintenance and repair — general workshop MAG welding of agricultural machinery, trailers and site equipment.

💡 Why Choose REAL GAZ
  • ✅ Reduced spatter — a well-matched argon-rich ratio keeps the arc smooth and reduces cleaning time after welding;
  • 🧪 Controlled penetration — the CO₂ share is chosen to suit the material thickness and transfer mode you use;
  • 🎯 Ready for every shop size — single cylinders for small workshops and bundles for continuous production are available;
  • 🔒 Dry, consistent supply — moisture is kept low so that porosity caused by wet gas is avoided.
  • 📄 Certificate of Analysis (CoA) — supplied with every order.

🔬 Quality Control & Safety
  • multi-stage purification of the base gases;
  • accurate mixing to the stated ratio;
  • moisture and impurity analysis;
  • leak testing and pressure integrity checks.
Cylinders comply with ADR / UN transport rules and relevant EN/ISO standards.
