Technical oxygen should never be used for breathing, for blowing dust from clothing or for cooling a work area, because enriched air ignites fabric and hair far more readily. In cutting and welding, use only clean, oxygen-rated regulators with their original seals, and test connections with approved leak-detection fluid rather than oil. Protect hoses from hot slag and sharp edges, and close cylinder valves at the end of every shift. Small leaks that go unnoticed overnight can create dangerous enrichment in closed workshops.
