Each blend is made to ISO 6142-1, checked by ISO 6143 comparison methods and documented in line with ISO 17025, ready for laboratory or industrial use.
Mixtures are normally prepared by weighing each component into an evacuated cylinder, starting with the smallest quantity. Because mass can be measured more accurately than volume, the gravimetric route gives the lowest uncertainty. After blending, the cylinder is rolled to ensure full homogeneity and analysed against independent reference mixtures.
