Specialty COโ Gas Mixture โ blended to your formula
Our Specialty COโ Gas Mixture range covers binary and ternary blends where carbon dioxide is combined with argon, nitrogen, oxygen or helium.
Blends are made by partial pressure or gravimetric methods, depending on the required accuracy, and analysed before release.
Blends are made by partial pressure or gravimetric methods, depending on the required accuracy, and analysed before release.
Blends are specified under EN ISO 14175 for welding (M12, M21), ISO 6142 for calibration and EIGA guidance for food packaging.
Mixtures behave differently from pure gases. Components may separate if the cylinder is stored on its side for long periods in low temperatures, and dew points shift with composition. REAL GAZ therefore states recommended storage conditions, minimum use temperature and expiry on each certificate, and advises customers to roll or warm cylinders when they have stood in the cold. Pilot cylinders let you validate the blend on your own equipment, and any adjustment is then made before production quantities are ordered.
๐ญ Where COโ Mixtures Are Used
- โ๏ธ Shielding gas welding โ argon with 8 to 25% COโ balances arc stability and penetration in MAG welding;
- ๐ฌ Modified atmosphere packaging โ nitrogen and COโ blends suppress microbial growth in fresh produce;
- ๐ฅ Cell culture โ COโ with air or nitrogen sets precise conditions in hypoxia chambers;
- ๐ Device testing โ laboratories simulate defined gas compositions to check sensors.
๐ก Why Choose REAL GAZ
- โ Custom ratios โ blend percentages are set to your process;
- ๐งช Homogeneity โ cylinders are rolled and mixed to ensure uniform content;
- ๐ฏ Accuracy classes โ tolerance levels are selected according to need;
- ๐ Wide balance choice โ argon, nitrogen, air, oxygen and helium are supported;
- ๐ Certificate of Analysis (CoA) โ supplied with every order.
๐ฌ Quality Control & Safety
- gravimetric or manometric blending records;
- analysis of each component after mixing;
- moisture limits for welding mixtures;
- valve and cylinder integrity testing.
Cylinders comply with ADR / UN transport rules and relevant EN/ISO standards.
๐ฆ Blend Selection Guide
- For general steel welding, argon with 18% COโ is a common compromise between spatter and penetration;
- For thin sheet and stainless steel, lower COโ levels reduce heat input and oxidation;
- For packaging, the COโ fraction depends on the product, as higher levels inhibit microbes but can cause pack collapse;
- Share your target composition and tolerance with us, and we will confirm feasibility and the cylinder pressure.
