A five-function device normally combines a non-return valve, a flame arrestor, a temperature-sensitive cut-off, a pressure-sensitive cut-off and a gas filter. When a flashback occurs, the flame is quenched, the gas flow is shut, and the device remains closed until it has been inspected and reset. It is a last line of defence and does not replace correct lighting procedures, hose care or leak checks.
Fit the device with the arrow pointing in the direction of gas flow, tighten with the correct spanner and never use sealing tape or grease on oxygen threads. After any flashback event, replace or return the unit for inspection before further use.
Selection should follow the application. Check the maximum working pressure, the rated flow, the connection thread and whether the unit is intended for regulator or torch mounting. Ask us for a compatibility check if you operate mixed fleets of older and newer outfits from different manufacturers. Spare units are held in stock for common thread types, so a tripped arrestor can be replaced the same day and the welding line returned to safe operation without improvisation.
