Check the cylinder before each use: confirm the label shows propane, the test date is current, the valve is undamaged and no leaks are detected with approved leak-test fluid. Connect the regulator by hand where possible, open the valve slowly and never use a cylinder lying on its side unless it is designed for it, since liquid may reach the regulator. Return empty cylinders with the valve closed and the cap fitted.
