Precision SO₂ Gas — tight-tolerance SO₂ standards for measurement
Precision SO₂ Gas from REAL GAZ describes SO₂ in nitrogen or air blended to narrow tolerance and low uncertainty, intended for metrology and compliance testing.
Each mixture is analysed after blending so that the certified value is based on measurement, not just on weighing.
Each mixture is analysed after blending so that the certified value is based on measurement, not just on weighing.
Mixtures are prepared per ISO 6142-1, validated using ISO 6143 comparison methods and documented under ISO 17025 principles for uncertainty reporting.
🏭 Where Precision SO₂ Standards Are Used
- 📏 Metrology labs — transfer standards for secondary calibration chains;
- 🏭 Stack testing — checks against reference methods such as EN 14791 for SO₂;
- 🚗 Fuel and lubricant testing — sulfur-analyser verification in refinery laboratories;
- 🌱 Air-quality networks — linearity and drift checks for fixed monitoring stations.
💡 Why Choose REAL GAZ
- ✅ Stated uncertainty — expanded uncertainty is shown on the certificate;
- 🧪 Low-ppm capability — passivated cylinders hold concentration at demanding levels;
- 🎯 Custom matrices — add CO₂, NO or O₂ components when your method demands it;
- 🔒 Date-limited validity — shelf-life is stated so that your records stay compliant;
- 📄 Certificate of Analysis (CoA) — supplied with every order.
🔬 Quality Control & Safety
- calibrated balances for gravimetric steps;
- multi-point analytical verification;
- cylinder wall passivation and cleaning;
- pressure and leak integrity checks.
Cylinders comply with ADR / UN transport rules and relevant EN/ISO standards.
📦 Uncertainty, Validity & Use
A precision standard is only as good as its handling. Condition the regulator with the mixture itself, purge the sampling line several times and allow the reading to stabilise before logging a value. Keep the cylinder at room temperature for at least 24 hours before use to avoid composition gradients.
Our certificates state the target concentration, the expanded uncertainty with its coverage factor, the traceability route and the date of analysis. Typical validity periods depend on concentration, since lower levels are more sensitive to wall effects. Customers running accredited methods can request additional documentation, such as balance gas purity, and re-certification before expiry. Our technical staff will help you choose a concentration close to the emission limit or action level you must verify.
Where results feed a regulatory report, keep the certificate with the measurement records. Note the cylinder number, the date of first use and the pressure at which you stop using it, since very low residual pressure can alter the delivered concentration. Our technical staff are happy to review your calibration schedule and suggest sensible intervals. We can also advise on selecting a regulator whose diaphragm and seat materials do not adsorb sulfur dioxide, since a poor choice can slow response and bias low-level readings.
