Precision SFโ Gas โ certified values for analytical accuracy
Precision SFโ Gas means a known quantity of sulfur hexafluoride with a stated uncertainty. REAL GAZ prepares such standards by weighing the pure gas and the balance gas into treated cylinders, then verifying the result against independent references.
Ranges from sub-ppm to percent level are available in nitrogen, synthetic air or helium.

REAL GAZ supplies this product according to ISO 6142, ISO 6143 and ISO 17025, suitable for laboratory and demanding industrial use.
๐ญ Where Precision SFโ Is Used
- ๐ Gas chromatography โ retention and response calibration of ECD and mass spectrometer systems;
- ๐ Emission monitoring โ checks on instruments that measure fluorinated gases around substations and plants;
- ๐๏ธ Leak rate assessment โ reference mixtures confirm sniffer sensitivity on gas-insulated equipment;
- ๐ Metrology โ inter-laboratory comparisons use traceable standards to test measurement competence.
๐ก Why Choose REAL GAZ for Precision Mixtures
- โ Traceability โ balances are calibrated with certified masses so that concentration links to the SI;
- ๐งช Stability tested โ cylinder treatment limits adsorption of SFโ at trace level;
- ๐ฏ Stated uncertainty โ the expanded uncertainty is shown on every certificate;
- ๐ Right tolerance โ choose a blending tolerance that matches your budget and accuracy need;
- ๐ Certificate of Analysis (CoA) โ supplied with every order
๐ฌ Quality Control & Safety
- passivated cylinder preparation;;
- multi-step gravimetric dilution;;
- comparison with reference standards;;
- analysis of homogeneity after rolling.
Allow the cylinder to reach room temperature and mix by rolling before first use, and keep the delivery line dry.
Cylinders comply with ADR / UN transport rules and relevant EN/ISO standards.
๐ฆ Using Precision Standards
A certified mixture is only as good as the way it is used. Stabilise the cylinder at room temperature, flush the regulator several times and avoid long runs of plastic tubing, which can adsorb or leak SFโ at trace level. Record the certificate value, the date and the cylinder pressure at each calibration so that drift in the instrument can be separated from drift in the standard.
- use stainless steel or PTFE tubing;
- stop using the mixture when pressure falls below the stated minimum;
- store cylinders away from large temperature swings;
- request a new certificate when the shelf life ends.
Choosing the right tolerance saves money. A relative uncertainty of a few per cent suits routine calibration, while accreditation work may require tighter values and a longer analytical verification. Tell us the instrument, the range and the standard you work to, and we will recommend a suitable level.
