In a 5.0 grade the total of all impurities is below 10 ppm, typically with oxygen under 2 ppm and water under 3 ppm. A 6.0 grade tightens these limits further. Even a small leak in a fitting can add more oxygen than the cylinder itself contains, so we recommend metal-sealed connections, short stainless steel lines and a purge cycle after every cylinder change.
To get the most from the gas, flush the regulator and delivery line at least three times with the cylinder before the first use, closing the cylinder valve between purges. Use stainless steel or copper tubing and avoid plastic hose over long runs, because plastics let oxygen and moisture permeate. These simple habits protect the certified purity of the gas.
