🧮 Understanding Tolerance and Uncertainty
Tolerance is the permitted deviation from the nominal value, while uncertainty describes how well the actual composition is known. A blend labelled 21% O₂ in helium with ±1% relative tolerance will contain between 20.79% and 21.21% oxygen. The certificate then states the actual measured value and its uncertainty.
