Pipeline regulators are normally installed in a dedicated station with isolation valves, a filter, a relief valve and pressure gauges on either side. Flow velocity should be kept within recognised limits in oxygen pipework to reduce ignition risks, and only approved materials such as brass, copper alloys and stainless steel should be used. Setting the regulator is straightforward: with the downstream valve closed, turn the adjuster until the outlet gauge shows the required value, then confirm that it holds steady.
