Gas supply and equipment follow ISO 5172 for torches, ISO 2503 for regulators, ISO 5175-1 for arrestors and ISO 14114 for acetylene systems.
Flame setting matters as much as fuel choice. A neutral flame has equal gas contributions and is used for most steel welding. An oxidising flame has excess oxygen and suits brazing of some alloys, though it can burn steel. A carburising flame has excess fuel and adds carbon, which suits hardfacing but is wrong for general welding. For cutting, the preheat flame is set neutral to slightly oxidising, and the cutting oxygen lever then supplies a concentrated jet. Ask us for torch tip charts, because the correct tip size and pressure for each plate thickness save gas and give a clean edge.
