Arrestors are normally installed in pairs: one at the regulator outlet and one at the torch inlet. Placing both gives double protection, since a flame stopped at the torch cannot burn the hose, and a surge stopped at the regulator cannot reach the cylinder. Our O2 units use right-hand threads and are marked in blue or with the oxygen symbol to avoid mixing with fuel-gas versions.
Check that the arrestor is clearly marked for oxygen before installation. Fuel-gas arrestors have left-hand threads on most outfits, so the two cannot normally be swapped by mistake. Replace any unit with damaged threads, dents or signs of heat discolouration, and never attempt to repair it yourself.
Fitting takes only a few minutes with a suitable spanner. Hold the arrestor body steady, tighten the nut firmly without over-torquing, and finish by testing the joint with leak detection fluid. Record the installation date on the equipment log so that periodic checks can be scheduled sensibly. Bulk orders for fleets of welding sets are welcome, and arrestors can be supplied together with matching hoses, regulators and tips so that every outfit is equipped to the same standard.
