Nitrogen Pressure Reducer โ reliable pressure reduction from cylinder to process
A nitrogen pressure reducer is a spring-loaded or dome-loaded device that lowers the supply pressure to the level your equipment needs and holds it there.
In everyday language it is the same instrument as a regulator, but the term is common in plant engineering, where it is also used for pipeline-mounted units fed from manifolds or evaporators.

Designs follow EN ISO 2503 and, for plant pipework, the principles of EN 13480 and the pressure equipment directive, for industrial installations.
๐ญ Where Nitrogen Pressure Reducers Are Used
- โ๏ธ Plant nitrogen headers โ a reducer at the end of a main drops line pressure to a machine's inlet rating;
- ๐ฌ Pneumatic instruments โ controllers and actuators require a clean, steady supply at a few bar;
- ๐ฅ Chemical processing โ pad gas for storage tanks is reduced to a few millibar above atmosphere;
- ๐ Oil and gas โ instrument purge and valve actuation use nitrogen reduced from cylinder banks.
๐ก Why Choose REAL GAZ
- โ Wide ranges โ outlet settings from fractions of a bar to over 100 bar;
- ๐งช Durable materials โ brass, stainless and PTFE or elastomer seats chosen for nitrogen;
- ๐ฏ Clear gauges โ dual gauges show inlet and outlet at a glance;
- ๐ Safe venting โ a relief function protects downstream equipment from over-pressure.
- ๐ Certificate of Analysis (CoA) โ supplied with every order.
๐ฌ Quality Control & Safety
- spring and diaphragm are tested for repeatability;
- seats are examined for sharp edges;
- reducers are leak-tested at both ends;
- pressure ratings are marked permanently.
A pressure reducer works by balancing a spring force against the outlet pressure acting on a diaphragm or piston. When downstream demand rises, the outlet pressure falls and the spring opens the seat to restore balance. Reducers for cylinder duty are compact, while those intended for pipelines have larger bodies, threaded or flanged connections and sometimes a built-in filter. Dome-loaded designs use a gas pilot pressure instead of a spring, giving better stability at high flow. We can supply spare repair kits for most common models, so that a worn seat or diaphragm can be replaced on site without taking the whole line out of service for an extended period.
Size the reducer by flow as well as pressure. An undersized unit will droop under load, while an oversized one may hunt. If you give us your flow rate and inlet pressure, we can recommend a model with a suitable flow coefficient.
Cylinders comply with ADR / UN transport rules and relevant EN/ISO standards.
