Cylinder regulators handle up to 300 bar inlet, while line regulators are normally rated for 20 to 40 bar and are installed after a primary stage. Regulators intended for manifolds should meet ISO 7291 where used in welding and cutting systems, and cylinder valves should follow ISO 10297 practice. A downstream relief valve is good practice wherever the pipeline pressure rating is lower than the regulator inlet rating.
A good installation also includes the surroundings of the regulator. Secure the cylinder with a chain or bracket, keep the gauge face visible and away from direct sunlight, support the hose so that it does not pull on the outlet, and label each line with its gas and pressure.
