Combining many components is demanding. Heavy hydrocarbons can condense, acid gases can react with moisture on cylinder walls, and nitrogen oxides can convert into other forms. We assess dew point at the filling pressure, choose passivated or aluminium cylinders where needed and limit pressure to keep the mixture in the gas phase. Natural gas simulation standards, refinery gas blends and emission sets are typical products. Handling a multi-component cylinder properly preserves its value. Heated regulators and lines prevent heavy hydrocarbons from condensing when the gas expands, and the cylinder should be stored at a stable temperature, ideally above the temperature at which it was certified. Allow the cylinder to reach room temperature and rotate or roll it gently if the certificate recommends it before use. We state these precautions on the documentation so that technicians follow the same routine every time.
