LIQUID OXYGEN GAS CYLINDER โ choose between cryogenic and compressed oxygen
A liquid oxygen gas cylinder can mean two different things, and REAL GAZ supplies both. Cryogenic cylinders keep oxygen liquid at โ183 ยฐC in a vacuum-insulated vessel, while conventional steel cylinders hold oxygen as compressed gas, typically at 150 to 200 bar in 10, 20, 40 or 50 litre sizes.
We help you decide which format fits your consumption and handling constraints.

Steel cylinders conform to ISO 9809, EN 1964 and the TPED directive, while cryogenic units follow ISO 21029, for industrial use.
๐ญ Where Liquid Oxygen Cylinders Are Used
- โ๏ธ Workshop cutting and welding โ compressed oxygen cylinders suit mobile jobs and low daily use with oxy-acetylene torches;
- ๐๏ธ Construction and demolition โ portable cylinders supply cutting gear on sites without a fixed gas connection;
- ๐งช High-consumption stations โ cryogenic cylinders deliver far more oxygen per exchange, ideal for continuous flow;
- ๐ ๏ธ Maintenance and repair โ engineers keep both cylinder types to cover small repairs and larger scheduled shutdowns.
๐ก Why Choose REAL GAZ
- โ Format advice โ we compare gas content, weight and exchange frequency to find the economical format;
- ๐งช Verified oxygen โ technical oxygen is analysed for purity and moisture before filling;
- ๐ฏ Complete package โ regulators, flashback arrestors and hoses are available with the cylinder;
- ๐ Cylinder control โ valves, test dates and markings are checked before each release;
- ๐ Certificate of Analysis (CoA) โ provided with every fill, showing purity and cylinder lot.
๐ฌ Quality Control & Safety
- hydrostatic test status and valve inspection;
- oxygen-clean preparation of cylinders;
- purity and moisture analysis;
- leak testing and colour-code verification under EN 1089-3.
Cylinders must be secured upright and kept free of oil and grease; they are transported under ADR / UN 1072 (compressed) and UN 1073 (refrigerated liquid).
๐ฆ Practical Notes on Liquid Oxygen Cylinders
A standard 50 litre steel cylinder charged to 200 bar holds roughly 9 to 10 cubic metres of gaseous oxygen, whereas a 180 litre cryogenic cylinder can provide around 150 cubic metres. For continuous flow above a few cubic metres per hour, cryogenic often means fewer changeovers and less handling. Always fit a regulator rated for oxygen, open the valve slowly, and use a flashback arrestor with fuel gas torches. Inspect hose condition regularly and replace any hose showing cracks or contamination.
