Laboratory SOโ Gas โ clean sulfur dioxide for bench and analytical work
Laboratory SOโ Gas from REAL GAZ is supplied in compact cylinders that suit fume-cupboard work and small instrument loads.
Low moisture and well-documented assay keep reaction results reproducible from one bottle to the next.
Low moisture and well-documented assay keep reaction results reproducible from one bottle to the next.
Preparation and testing practice follow ISO 17025 competence principles, and set-up advice refers to EN 14175 fume-cupboard practice, for academic and quality-control laboratories.

๐ฆ Safe Bench Use
Always place the cylinder inside a ventilated gas cabinet or secure it beside a fume cupboard, and connect only through a regulator rated for corrosive gas. Flush the line with dry nitrogen before opening the cylinder valve and again after finishing. A bubbler or caustic trap on the exhaust protects the room air and the extraction duct.
Typical laboratory orders involve small cylinders that last for months, so check the valve annually for stiffness and replace worn seals. Record consumption in the lab log, and keep a portable SOโ detector near the working area. REAL GAZ can supply labelled secondary containers for dilute mixtures where appropriate, and our staff are glad to discuss exposure limits, emergency showers and spill procedures with your safety officer.
Students and new staff should be introduced to the hazards before first use. Provide a laminated card at the cabinet with the exposure limit, the symptoms of overexposure and the emergency number, and make sure that no one works alone with the cylinder open. Periodic drills keep this knowledge fresh. Dispose of leftover gas only through a scrubber or by returning the cylinder to us; never vent SOโ into a room or a general extraction duct, and never pour scrubber liquor down a drain without neutralising it.
