In laboratories, oxygen lines are often shared with fuel gases such as hydrogen or natural gas. A backflow of fuel into the oxygen line could create a hazardous mixture, so a non-return valve with flame arrest is vital at every point of use. Our laboratory units are compact, easy to mount on benches and supplied cleaned for oxygen so that sensitive instruments are not contaminated.
Laboratories should label every gas line at the cylinder and at the point of use, keep cylinders chained in a ventilated storage area, and use regulators dedicated to oxygen. Where oxygen enrichment is possible, install an oxygen monitor, since air with more than 23.5 percent oxygen greatly increases fire risk.
Typical laboratory flow rates are measured in millilitres or a few litres per minute, so the arrestor must create very little pressure drop.
