Check the contents gauge and pressure gauge when the cylinder is installed and before each experimental series. A cylinder that sits unused will slowly build pressure until the relief valve lifts, which is normal and not a fault, so avoid placing it in a small unventilated cupboard. Connect the outlet to a regulator with a non-return valve to protect the cylinder from back-flow. Wheel the unit only on an approved cylinder trolley, and secure it with a chain or strap when stationary.
