A laboratory rarely consumes carbon monoxide quickly, so a small cylinder may stay connected for months. For that reason we recommend a two-stage stainless regulator with a CO-compatible diaphragm, a cylinder-mounted flow limiter where possible, and a gas-tight line check on every connection. Keep the cylinder inside a ventilated gas cabinet and fit a CO alarm in the room.

A small unit holds only a few cubic metres of gas, so for continuous work two cylinders on a change-over panel avoid interrupting runs.
