📦 Handling & Storage of SF₆
Use a gas cart or recovery unit with a vacuum pump, filters and a compressor sized for the compartment, and evacuate air before filling. Allow cylinders to reach room temperature, because the pressure of a cold liquefied gas falls and slows the transfer. After arcing, the gas can contain decomposition products such as sulphur oxyfluorides, so wear gloves, goggles and a suitable respirator when opening a compartment, and dispose of filter material according to your site rules.
