Grades are specified against ISO 14175, ISO 8573-1 quality classes where relevant and ISO 17025 analytical practice, suitable for process and research use.
Industrial grade is typically used where a trace of oxygen is harmless, such as blanketing or purging. Laboratory grade is purified further and delivered in cylinders with stainless diaphragm valves, because brass seats and elastomer seals can release contaminants. For chromatography we recommend 5.0 with an inline moisture and hydrocarbon filter, and for trace mass spectrometry 6.0.
