Plastic tubing allows air and moisture to diffuse in over time, so for trace work replace it with metal lines and test the connections regularly with a helium leak detector. For critical work we recommend ordering cylinders with a dedicated stainless-steel diaphragm valve and keeping one spare cylinder, so that a sequence is never interrupted midway and the line is never opened to air.
