Pressure is not the only concern: the blend is a liquefied gas, so cylinder pressure depends on temperature, not on remaining quantity. A cylinder in a hot vehicle can reach pressures near 30 bar, which is why cylinders must never be filled above the permitted fill ratio. Use pressure regulators and hoses rated for HFC service, never use air for leak testing, and relieve pressure slowly through the recovery unit.
Understanding the pressure-temperature relationship helps avoid mistakes. For a zeotropic blend there are two pressures for a given temperature, one at the bubble point and one at the dew point, so a technician must read the correct column of the pressure-temperature chart. Approximate saturation pressures are 11 bar at 20 °C, 18 bar at 40 °C and 27 bar at 60 °C for the liquid. If the discharge pressure of a plant climbs above design, check for dirty condensers, failed fans and non-condensable gases before adding or removing refrigerant.
