Vapour pressure for propane is near 8 bar at 20 °C, and it can exceed 15 bar at 50 °C, which is why cylinders must be protected from heat and why pressure relief devices are fitted. Pipework, hoses and regulators must be rated for the maximum expected pressure, and single-stage or two-stage regulators should be chosen according to the downstream demand. Test connections with leak detection fluid, never with a flame.
