A high pressure breathing gas cylinder from REAL GAZ is a seamless steel or aluminium vessel designed to hold respirable air or mixed breathing gas at working pressures of 200 or 300 bar. Cylinder wall, neck thread and valve are selected for the duty, because a breathing cylinder is a safety component and not a simple container.

Water capacity determines how long a cylinder lasts: a 6.8 litre cylinder at 300 bar stores about 2,000 litres of free air, while a 12 litre cylinder at 200 bar stores about 2,400 litres.
