High Pressure Ar-He Gas Cylinder โ argon-helium blends at up to 300 bar for demanding welding and process work
A high pressure Ar-He gas cylinder from REAL GAZ holds a pre-blended argon and helium mixture compressed to 200 bar or 300 bar, so one cylinder carries far more usable gas than a standard low-pressure pack. Typical blends range from 75% argon with 25% helium to 30% argon with 70% helium, filled into 10, 20, 40 and 50 litre steel cylinders.
Helium raises arc voltage and heat input, which gives deeper penetration and faster travel speed on thick aluminium, copper and nickel alloys, while argon keeps the arc stable and easy to strike.

Mixtures follow the EN ISO 14175 I3 shielding gas group, are blended gravimetrically in line with ISO 6142, and are checked in an ISO 17025 style laboratory routine for fabrication and research customers.
๐ญ Where Ar-He Cylinders Are Used
- โ๏ธ Thick aluminium welding โ helium-rich blends deliver the extra heat needed to weld 10 mm plate and above without excessive preheating;
- ๐ฅ Copper and bronze fabrication โ high thermal conductivity metals need hot arcs, and Ar-He keeps the weld pool fluid and fusion complete;
- ๐ฌ Gas chromatography carrier trials โ laboratories use controlled argon-helium blends to study detector response and column behaviour;
- ๐ Aerospace and nuclear components โ automated orbital TIG welding of reactive and nickel-based alloys relies on consistent, repeatable shielding;
๐ก Why Choose REAL GAZ
- โ Higher fill pressure โ a 300 bar fill reduces cylinder changes and downtime on long production runs;
- ๐งช Tight blend tolerance โ helium content is held close to the ordered value so weld parameters stay repeatable from batch to batch;
- ๐ฏ Matched to your process โ we advise on the argon-to-helium ratio for your base metal, thickness and welding method;
- ๐ Rated, inspected cylinders โ every high pressure unit carries valid test marking and is inspected before refilling;
- ๐ Certificate of Analysis (CoA) โ supplied with every order.
๐ฌ Quality Control & Safety
- helium and argon ratio verified after blending;
- valve thread and outlet matched to national connections;
- moisture and oxygen traces measured before release;
- hydrostatic test date and pressure integrity checks.
High pressure cylinders are built to ISO 9809 and EN 1964, approved under TPED, and move under ADR / UN rules.
๐ง Handling High Pressure Ar-He Packs
Use a regulator rated for the full cylinder pressure, and open the valve slowly to avoid heat from rapid compression. Helium is lighter than argon, so a blend can in theory stratify if a cylinder lies unused for months; we roll every cylinder before dispatch and recommend gentle rolling again if the pack has been stored horizontally for a long period. Flow rates of 12 to 25 litres per minute suit most TIG work, but helium-rich blends often need higher flow than pure argon, so check your torch guidance. Keep cylinders upright, chained and shaded, away from heat sources and from open workshop doors in cold weather.
โ๏ธ Trusted Gas Solutions
REAL GAZ supplies every high pressure Ar-He gas cylinder to workshops, shipyards and laboratories in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Uzbekistan and the USA, with cylinder rental, refill and regulator advice available alongside. Tell us the alloy, thickness and welding current, and our team will recommend the blend and the pack size that suit your line.
