High-flow regulators supply the oxygen volume that a large cutting nozzle consumes in seconds. Wide-bore hoses reduce pressure drop over long runs, and heavy torch bodies absorb heat from prolonged preheating. For continuous cutting, we often recommend cylinder packs or manifold supply instead of single cylinders, since a single cylinder may be emptied in a short time at high draw rates.
Thick-section cutting generates large amounts of molten slag and sparks. Clear the area of combustibles, use heat-resistant screens, and keep hoses away from the cutting path. Permits for hot work should be issued and a fire watch maintained after the job is finished.
Cutting capacity depends on nozzle size, oxygen pressure and plate condition. With the right nozzle and sufficient oxygen supply, a heavy duty set can sever steel of considerable thickness, although speed falls as thickness rises. Clean, rust-free surfaces and steady travel speed give the smoothest, most economical cuts. We can also recommend cylinder trolleys, heat-resistant hose covers and ground-level cutting tables suited to the heavy work this equipment performs.
