Flow tubes are normally calibrated at a fixed outlet pressure and read at the top of the ball or at its centre, depending on the design; the data sheet states which. Typical ranges are 0 to 10, 0 to 30 and 0 to 60 l/min, and choosing a tube whose normal reading sits mid-scale improves accuracy. Fixed-orifice models deliver preset flows such as 5, 10 or 15 l/min and are popular where operators should not be able to change the setting.
