Gas arrestors are not maintenance-free. The sintered element can clog with soot, so flow should be checked periodically and units replaced when output drops. Keep protective caps on spare units and store them dry. Never attempt to open a sealed arrestor body in the workshop, because the internal assembly is factory set and any disturbance may reduce the protection it provides.
Selecting an arrestor means matching three things: gas, flow and pressure. A cutting torch on thick plate needs more oxygen flow than a small brazing set, and an undersized element will starve the flame. Our datasheets state the maximum flow in cubic metres per hour at the rated pressure, so you can compare with your torch table. Regulator-mounted arrestors should be fitted with the correct sealing washer or O-ring, and the connection should be checked again after the first hour of use because new seals bed in under pressure.
