FUEL GAS TYPE PROPANE/ACETYLENE โ matching equipment to the fuel gas
The phrase fuel gas type propane/acetylene often appears on regulators, torches and hoses, and it tells you which gas the equipment has been designed, tested and marked for.
REAL GAZ helps buyers read these markings correctly, because the wrong regulator or hose on a fuel gas line can cause leaks, poor flame control or, in the case of acetylene, a hazardous reaction with copper.
REAL GAZ helps buyers read these markings correctly, because the wrong regulator or hose on a fuel gas line can cause leaks, poor flame control or, in the case of acetylene, a hazardous reaction with copper.
Equipment is specified with ISO 2503 for regulators, ISO 3821 for rubber hoses, ISO 5172 for torches and ISO 5175-1 for safety devices.
Always read the marking on the regulator body, the connection nut and the hose before use. A regulator marked for acetylene will show a maximum outlet pressure of 1.5 bar, because acetylene becomes unstable above this pressure in free gas form. A propane regulator may allow higher outlet settings. Never exchange them, and never adapt a fitting to make it fit. Hoses should be inspected for cuts, scorching and perishing, and replaced on schedule. Clip-on hose ends should be fixed with proper clamps rather than wire, and any set that has been damaged should be pressure tested before it returns to use.
๐ญ Where Propane and Acetylene Equipment Is Used
- ๐ง Regulator selection โ acetylene regulators use a yoke or clamp connection and limit outlet pressure to 1.5 bar, while propane regulators use a threaded connection;
- ๐งฏ Hose identification โ red hoses denote fuel gas and blue denote oxygen, which reduces errors at the torch;
- ๐ญ Manifold and pipeline systems โ centralised fuel gas supply requires components approved for the specific gas and working pressure;
- ๐ Operator training โ labels, colour codes and thread direction are part of every safe-use briefing we can provide.
๐ก Why Choose REAL GAZ
- โ Gas-specific parts โ acetylene fittings avoid alloys with a high copper content to prevent explosive acetylides;
- ๐งช Correct pressure ranges โ outlet gauges and relief arrangements are suited to the gas, so readings are meaningful;
- ๐ฏ Complete sets โ regulator, hoses, arrestors and torch can be supplied together for consistent quality;
- ๐ Left-hand thread for fuel gas โ fuel gas connections are left-hand threaded to prevent cross-fitting with oxygen;
- ๐ Certificate of Analysis (CoA) โ supplied with every order.
๐ฌ Quality Control & Safety
- pressure and leak testing of regulators;
- hose burst and bend checks;
- verification of left-hand fuel gas threads;
- packaging and labelling review before dispatch.
Cylinders and equipment are supplied under ADR / UN rules, with EN 1089-3 colour coding applied where relevant.
