Preventers at the torch are usually combined with arrestors at the regulator. Together they offer two barriers against flame travel. Check the check valve action by gently blowing through the unit in the correct direction, and replace any device in which the valve sticks or leaks. Keep a simple log of fitting dates so that nothing stays in service beyond its intended life.

It is smaller than many industrial models, so it can sit directly behind the torch handle and does not hang awkwardly on the hose.
