Never fit an acetylene arrestor to an oxygen line or the reverse. Propane devices may look similar to acetylene models but have different pressure ratings. Always mount arrestors in the orientation the maker recommends and replace them after any confirmed flashback, since the internal element may be damaged even if the outside looks sound.
Mixed sets often cause the most mistakes, so we label each arrestor clearly and ship them in separate bags marked with the gas. Oxygen units are packed oil-free and should only be handled with clean gloves. Acetylene units are made without high-copper alloys, and propane units use standard brass.
