A typical skid begins with a drawing set approved by the client. The base frame is welded from beams or channels and equipped with lifting eyes, drip trays and earthing studs. Valves, regulators, filters, relief devices and instruments are mounted on supports and connected with tube or pipe, leaving sufficient space for operation and maintenance. A skid may include a single-stage regulation line, a redundant duplex arrangement with a changeover valve, or a more complex arrangement with several outlet headers. Instrument ranges, gauge dials and valve handles are selected so they can be read and operated in gloves, and nameplates and tag numbers follow the client's coding system.
