Handling and inspection: cylinder valves with built-in safety devices must be checked at each periodic cylinder inspection and whenever a cylinder is dropped or exposed to fire. Look for a damaged protective cap, weeping around the burst disc, corroded neck threads or a missing label. Do not open a damaged valve to test it. Instead, move the cylinder to a safe, ventilated place and contact us for instruction. Valves for oxygen must stay oil free, while valves for fuel gases should be kept away from sources of ignition. Replacement valves are torque-tightened to the neck thread specification and leak tested before the cylinder returns to service. Cylinder owners should also keep records of the valve type, the test date of the cylinder and the date of the last service, because these details make audits and recalls much easier to manage across a large cylinder park.
