Cylinder for compressed and liquefied gases โ€” the right vessel for permanent and condensable gases
A Cylinder for compressed and liquefied gases behaves differently depending on what is inside: permanent gases like nitrogen stay gaseous at any pressure, while liquefied gases like carbon dioxide, propane or ammonia partly condense in the vessel.
REAL GAZ selects cylinder type, valve and filling ratio to suit each family correctly.
Filling limits follow ISO 10286 and ADR filling ratios, with cylinders built to ISO 9809 and EN 1964 for safe storage and regulated transport.
Confusing the two families is a common source of accidents, so the distinction is built into our procedures. Compressed gases such as argon, helium and oxygen are filled until a target pressure at 15 ยฐC is reached. Liquefied gases such as COโ‚‚, nitrous oxide, ammonia and refrigerants are filled by weight, because pressure stays almost constant while liquid remains. Cylinders for liquefied gases have a maximum permitted filling ratio, and excess liquid can create dangerous hydrostatic pressure when warmed. We recommend scales at the point of use for liquefied gases so that customers can see how much product remains.

๐Ÿญ Where Compressed and Liquefied Gas Cylinders Are Used
  • ๐Ÿฅค Carbon dioxide for beverages โ€” liquefied COโ‚‚ with a dip tube feeds carbonation and draught systems;
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ Propane and LPG blends โ€” liquefied fuel gases serve heating, cutting torches and forklifts;
  • ๐ŸงŠ Refrigerant handling โ€” liquefied refrigerants are supplied in dedicated cylinders for service and recovery;
  • ๐Ÿงช Nitrogen and helium โ€” permanent gases are filled by pressure for inerting, leak testing and analytical use.

๐Ÿ’ก Why Choose REAL GAZ
  • โœ… Correct filling ratio โ€” liquefied gas is filled by weight so the vessel never becomes liquid full;
  • ๐Ÿงช Dedicated cylinders โ€” corrosive and flammable gases use their own tested cylinder pools;
  • ๐ŸŽฏ Valve choice โ€” dip tube or vapour offtake valves are fitted to match your draw method;
  • ๐Ÿ”’ Compliant labels โ€” hazard pictograms and UN numbers follow ADR and CLP rules;
  • ๐Ÿ“„ Certificate of Analysis (CoA) โ€” supplied with every order.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Key Differences to Know
  • compressed gases are measured by pressure, liquefied gases by net weight on a scale;
  • liquefied gas pressure depends on temperature, so cylinders must be kept out of direct sun;
  • vapour withdrawal cools the cylinder, so high flow rates may need a heater or manifold;
  • ammonia and chlorine need corrosion resistant valves and trained handlers.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Quality Control & Safety
  • multi-stage purification and cleaning of every vessel;
  • precision gravimetric filling and weight checks;
  • moisture & impurity analysis before release;
  • leak testing and pressure integrity checks.
Cylinders and vessels comply with ADR / UN transport rules and relevant EN/ISO standards.
