Container design follows EN 13458, ISO 21029 and EN 1251, with liquid helium classed under UN 1963.
Because helium has a latent heat of vaporisation of only about 20 kJ/kg, a poorly insulated vessel loses product quickly. We inspect the vacuum insulation, super-insulation layers and neck tube of each dewar, and we recommend pre-cooled transfer lines with liquid nitrogen shielding where your system allows it. These small practices can noticeably reduce the volume lost during every transfer.
Typical delivery sizes range from 100 L portable dewars to 500 L and larger transport containers, depending on region and route. Evaporation during a long journey is unavoidable, so quantities are stated at filling and checked on arrival. If a load shows unusual loss, our team reviews the record with you promptly and fairly.
