🛠️ Fuel Gas and Nozzle Pairing
- Acetylene and propane nozzles are not interchangeable in every torch; use the nozzle type the torch maker specifies.
- Keep cylinders upright and secured with chains, and store oxygen away from fuel gas by a fire-resistant barrier or distance.
- Close the fuel valve first, then the oxygen valve, when extinguishing the torch.
🛢️ Cylinder Storage and Handling
Fuel gas and oxygen cylinders must be stored apart, ideally with at least a few metres or a fire-resistant wall between them, in a ventilated area away from ignition sources. Acetylene cylinders must be kept upright and left to stand before use if they have been laid down. Use cylinder trolleys with chains and never roll cylinders on their sides. Protective valve caps remain on until the regulator is fitted. Check regulators for condition and fit non-return valves and flashback arrestors on the torch side of each hose.
