Because pressure in the cylinder depends on temperature rather than contents, a full and a half-full cylinder show the same gauge reading at the same ambient temperature. Cylinders must never be heated with open flame, should be kept away from direct sunlight and should be stored upright with valve caps in place. In very low temperatures, vapour pressure drops and flow may become inadequate, so a larger cylinder or manifold may be needed.
