Pressure vessels conform to ISO 9809-1, valves to ISO 10297, and cylinder marking to EN ISO 7225, so each unit is clearly identified for safe and compliant use.
Before connecting a new cylinder, check that the label matches the mixture you ordered, inspect the valve for damage and make sure the thread and washer are clean. Open the valve slowly while standing to one side, and use a regulator rated for the cylinder pressure. A flowmeter regulator is useful on welding sets, and a stainless two-stage regulator is better for analytical work, where stable outlet pressure matters.
As the cylinder empties, pressure falls steadily, so replace it before it drops below about 5 bar to avoid drawing air back into the system. Never use the cylinder for anything other than its labelled purpose, and never try to refill it yourself. When a cylinder reaches its test date, it must be inspected before refilling; REAL GAZ checks this at every return and arranges re-testing where needed.
