Open the valve slowly and observe the float. Avoid forcing the needle onto the seat when closing, as this can damage it and cause creeping flow. Check the setting again after any change of cylinder or regulator pressure. Keep a short procedure card at the workstation with typical flow values for each task, and review it when materials or equipment change.
A well-organised workplace gets the best from an adjustable instrument. Fix the flowmeter at eye height on a panel, mark the typical settings for each task with a label, and agree who is allowed to change them. If more than one operator shares the equipment, a written procedure avoids mistakes and waste.
